Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, in America's eyes, into the child prodigy category. This is a natural characteristic for a girl who was of Irish heritage, that was surrounded during her early days by talented relatives and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh an area in Dublin the capital of Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland and ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons is the second child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen was a great athlete and was a gruelling athlete in games when she was young. Her talent for performing was a perfect complement to her passion for sport. This was apparent when she won each Feis in drama and theatre the Irish had to offer. At the age of 14, she was admitted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre and operatic singing.
